Icy scenes from Sunday’s photo walk • what a weather event we just experienced! When folks joke about how portland handles snow, I always stress that the snow is not the problem. It’s the ice that is our kryptonite. And it always comes hand-in-hand with our snow days. I’m glad I got out to capture this because it’s always so temporary. We rarely spend more than a few days below freezing (thank goodness). It was quite thick in places, almost a half inch on top of ~6 inches of snow in places.
It’s been a while since I took an intentional photo walk in my neighborhood. The snow gave me a good reason to get out there. Here’s some views I captured on Saturday afternoon, all within two blocks from my home.
Icy times! So beautiful and dangerous. Grateful for my rain gear that doubles as snow gear in these rare moments. Last time we had weather like this was 2017. Time is so elusive and strange. Slow but fast. It’s hard to hold it in your hand. #mylifeon69th
As much as I often tire of the freeway sounds all around my apartment, I never get tired of the gorgeous sunsets I get to witness from my perch.
Happy solstice, friends. ✨
T’was a lovely afternoon for a stroll in Forest Park with @stink_ee ♥️✨🌲
My older brother, Tyson, turned 45 today! Here he is with his pride and joy of the year, Beatrix.
It’s been over 7 months without you and I still really miss your obnoxious meow and comforting cuddles. #threeleggedgrace #catsofinstagram #mybelovedcat
I’ve been house sitting for a dear friend for the last week and a half. It’s been nice change of pace to be in a different environment with lots of animals to care for. The cat (Sasha) even graced me with full on snuggles last night. The chickens love to eat right out of your hand. And the stray cat (Lucy) shows up like clockwork for dinner every night. I even had a insect friend visit. Also this light! It’s been a treat. ✨
