I’ve had this blog for 6 years. I was initially very active but over the years, I lost my steam. This month is the first time I have posted in over a year. The last three years, it’s been rather quiet here. Continue reading six years ago
last summer, we had four straight months with no rain. four straight months!
it was crazy, so unlike oregon. this year, we got a bit of summer showers but last year, nothing, nada, dry as a bone. so when that first rain finally came… woo-hoo! i was excited! i ran outside and started photographing it. what a gorgeous sight for this oregonian.
i was truly giddy. here is what i saw that day.
As many of you know, I participate in a photography project called Words to Shoot By. Every couple of weeks we shoot three new photos (in any format) interpreting a word. We had a special post today that had our normal crew plus 16 guests! I have to say, it’s one of the most beautiful posts I have seen in a while.
Below are the three images I contributed for today’s post. Our word was water. I made these images with my Olympus OM-2n, 50mm 1.8 lens, and Kodak Ektar 100 film at the end of August while boating across the ever gorgeous Redfish Lake in Idaho. Such a lovely place.
This was a really fun one to shoot for! Now go check out everybody else’s!
i love new years day!
it always feels so bright, so optimistic, so new and fresh.
we started this year at the coast. Seaside—again—just like last year, yet so different.
Cal and I decided Astoria was more scenic… therefore, better for photography. What else would I have in mind on the sunny, first day of the year beside photography?
I mean… you have to start it off right… right?
We ended up climbing the Astoria column. It was a first for me. It was quite gorgeous. You could see all of Astoria from up there. 164 steps up in the sky.
And I had two awesome photo assistants. Cal gave me a boost to take a couple shots that weren’t easy for a woman of my stature (Hey! I’m only 4’11”, folks. The best shots are sometimes above my head!) and his son, Josh, excitedly peeled all of these apart for me.
Once the sun set, we headed home. Oh 2012, you started perfectly!
Happy friday, friends!
