by car, by boat, by foot

Just over a week ago, my boyfriend Cal & I, my Dad & his girlfriend Diane, and a couple of my Dad’s running friends (Dana, Mary Lou, & Ron) all travelled up to Victoria, B.C. to run some road races. Cal & I ran the 8k road race; Dad, Dana & Ron ran the half-marathon. Mary Lou and Diane were our cheerleaders. The weather was amazing the whole time and we all had so much fun.

I took this whole roll that day starting with the ferry ride. I took many more photos along the way but I thought sharing this one roll, taken over about 8 hours on the first day of our trip was a nice way to tell this story. It has the feeling of an adventure.

It was a lovely 4.5 hour drive to Port Angeles, then an hour and a half ferry ride into Victoria. I fell a bit in love with the look of the water from the Ferry.

We got into Victoria around 3 p.m. We all stayed at the Empress(!) so we got off the ferry and checked right into our hotel.

How awesome is my boyfriend for carrying my bag there? He’s pretty awesome.

The shot below is the view from our room. I love all the ivy growing on the Empress. Such a gorgeous place.

And this next photo was the view from my Dad & Diane’s room. I wanted to go check out this little courtyard but never got a chance too. Next time!

Aren’t these old ships awesome? I would love to take a trip on one.

We took a trip to Spinnakers on one of the little harbor taxi’s, so fun!

Had to have a beer, to try out the local brews… I went for the tasting option. 4 beers instead of 1.

This was the view from our table at Spinnakers. Not too shabby.

We headed out just as the sun was setting. We had a long walk back to our hotel and once the sun was down, it really started to cool off.

It was a perfect first day in Victoria. I hope to share more photos from the trip here soon.

All photos in this post were made with my Olympus OM-2n, 50mm 1.8 lens and a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 film.
