inspired by

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by today! I know how valuable your time is and I appreciate that you’re spending a bit of it here with me.

Today, I want to do something a little different. I want to share a couple of folks whose blogs inspire me. Two folks, in particular, that inspired me to start this blog as they are fantastic photographers and their blog formats really resonated with me. I love stories but I am really in love with visual stories right now and they are both experts at that.

abby try again :: Abby recently moved to from Portland to Austin and the shift in her photos has been so fun to watch. There has always been a warmth and vibrancy to her images but lately they are even more vibrant. Must be that Texas sunshine! I love seeing the world through her eyes.

the blue hour :: Bryan Ferry, once lived in NYC but currently lives in London … I didn’t start following his blog until right around the time he moved but I quickly became a frequent visitor. He lives the type of life I can get behind—one full of fine food, visiting friends, beautiful light, and taking mini-trips to the seaside or into Europe. He sometimes share tunes and bits of inspiration.

They are both use film pretty much exclusively. I really love that. My appreciation for film over digital grows almost daily. It feel so much more meaningful to me… even the out-takes … and believe me there are so many fewer out-takes. Film makes me stop and think and, in a world that sometimes seems to be rushing by me, it’s so refreshing.

I hope you’re having a lovely day.

day unto night

Here are more sights from last weekend …

… with summer trees and burrito guides …

… beer sign reflections and chocolate chip ice cream cookies …

… games with friends (hi colleen!)  …

… and, of course, twinkly lights!

one mississippi…

Let’s relive the weekend, shall we? Last friday night, I went to couple of pretty rad spots on N. Mississippi.

First up, ¿Por Que No?! Yes!

I spotted this sweet sign on the way to our next spot.

Next up, Amnesia Brewing for their delicious beer and awesome patio. Perfection for the waning days of summer.

See you back here tomorrow for another adventure.

Carpe aestatem!

Summer is waning and I am trying to soak it up before it goes. So here are some summery photos to get us through some of these not-so-summery days.

It’s almost friday! And the sun is out right now. YAY!

a field trip (of sorts)

Good morning!

What are you up to on this beautiful morning? Hmmm…. no plans?!

Well then, let’s go grab some breakfast together. I know this place. It’s just right around the corner. The food is delicious and simple. Oh, and don’t worry… the coffee’s great too!

It’s a place for friends. So you’ll feel right at home.

The breakfast burrito is one of my favorites. They have an assortment of coffee cups here. This one is my current love.

There is a flower shop next door. So there are often beautiful things right outside the window.

See, I told you we’d see some friendly faces here.

Can you believe autumn is almost here! Me neither. Let’s enjoy the warm days that we have left, kay?

That was so much fun! Thanks for coming along.

morning light

When I stepped out of my apartment one morning last week, the light in the hallway stopped me in my tracks. This is one of the things that I’ve learned from photography. In a way, it’s like sports … keep your eye on the ball. With photography, keep your eye on the light. Light is everything.

I hope you have a lovely day. It’s Friday, after all!
